Meet the Bay Harbor Team

Lance R. Scott, AIF®
Founder, President and Fiduciary Wealth Advisor

Lance Scott is the founder and president of Bay Harbor Wealth Management, a company dedicated to helping individuals and families establish strategies for their financial future, and serves as the company's Chief Compliance Officer.

Lance graduated from the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland, and later attended the University of Vermont, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a minor in business administration. He also studied abroad at Griffith University on the Gold Coast of Australia. Lance went on to complete the Investment Strategies and Portfolio Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education. He earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) Designation in 2018. Attainment of the AIF® Designation demonstrates understanding of the Prudent Practices® and methodology.

Lance began his career in the financial services industry when he worked for his father, who owned and operated a yacht financing company based in Fells Point, Maryland, with multiple offices covering the coasts from California to the Carolinas. Lance’s father, who came from a banking background and successfully pursued his entrepreneurial aspirations, taught Lance at a young age about money and finance and instilled in him a philosophy of "When Our Clients Succeed, We Succeed"; a philosophy that continues to drive Lance and his business pursuits. When his father sold his company to a subsidiary of one of the largest banks in France, Lance gained insights into the world of private banking. After seeing how the wealthiest of individuals were treated, he realized these benefits should also be available to mainstream investors.

Lance founded Bay Harbor Wealth Management in 2011 at the age of 29 with a mission to add a unique value that was lacking in his industry to Maryland business leaders, entrepreneurs, individuals and families. He established his firm as a fiduciary, carrying the philosophy his father instilled in him through his business operations. Being able to offer support and financial guidance to his clients with solely their best interests in mind is remarkably rewarding to Lance and he considers it an honor to be a financial steward to them and their families.

Lance is a member of the Forbes Finance Council and lends his knowledge of the industry through contributions to Forbes.com. He also educates the local community through Bay Harbor Wealth Management’s Financial Planning 101 program, sponsoring and teaching workshops on retirement and financial planning at local higher education institutions.

Lance was named to the InvestmentNews 2016 40 Under 40 list and was ranked #274 in the country [the top-ranked independent wealth advisor in Maryland] on the Forbes 2020 Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors list. As an independent, Lance is not subject to the restrictions and bureaucracy imposed by large Wall Street or national wire houses. Those advisors are subject to pressures from their upper management and shareholders to create and deliver proprietary products that are lucrative to the firms, but most often do not serve the clients’ needs.

Lance lives in Baltimore with his wife, Sunni, who is an optometrist, along with their three daughters and Labrador, Huckleberry. He and his wife are supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Casey Cares, amongst others.

Andy Anthony, CPA

Andy Anthony is an analyst with Bay Harbor Wealth Management. He grew up in Baltimore County and attended Towson University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After graduating, Andy earned his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license with a regional accounting firm and soon after transitioned into T. Rowe Price (TRP) as a member of the Mutual Fund Accounting Operations team. Over the course of 25 years, Andy grew to manage a team of 50 associates and eventually coordinated the transition of TRP’s operations to Bank of New York Mellon (BNYM). Over the next three years, as part of the BNYM Leadership team, Andy oversaw the transition of accounting operations, system conversion of accounting assets totaling 660 billion, and a team of 120 associates from Maryland to Delaware.

After 30 successful years in the accounting field, Andy decided to pursue his interest in the financial planning arena where he could assist others as they navigate their financial future. In November of 2019 Andy passed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ test and soon after joined the Bay Harbor Wealth Management team. Ultimately, this transition allowed him to return his career to the Baltimore area.

Andy currently resides in Sparks, MD with his wife and three sons. In his free time, Andy is an avid hiker and enjoys spending time outside with his family and dogs. Andy has held volunteer roles within his community for years, including various roles within his local pool leadership board, commissioner of the Cockeysville Recreational boys’ basketball program, and most recently the Cash Campaign of Maryland.

Lauren Swann, IACCP®
Director of Business Development

Lauren Swann (Uphouse) grew up in Lutherville, Maryland. After graduating from Maryvale Preparatory School in 2002, Lauren was hired as an administrative assistant for a professional recruiting firm in Baltimore. She spent over eight years in the professional recruiting industry, working her way up to a managerial operations role.

In 2010 Lauren followed her interest in the financial services industry and began working for an investment banking firm in Baltimore, where she supported the Chairman of Investment Banking and assisted in managing the Commitment Committee processes. During this time Lauren pursued a degree in internet marketing, and in 2015 she began utilizing those skills as an internet marketing consultant. Lauren joined Bay Harbor Wealth Management in 2017 as Director of Business Development, combining her financial services background with her marketing skills to help establish and grow the business.

This designation is awarded to knowledgeable, experienced individuals who complete an instructor-led program of in-person and/or online study, pass a certifying examination, and meet its work experience, ethics and continuing education requirements. The designation signifies intermediate-level knowledge of investment adviser regulation and compliance best practices, and adherence to nationally recognized professional standards and ethical leadership. Exhaustive certification and course development, together with expert instructors and facilitators from the compliance, legal, regulatory, financial industry, and academic sectors, help ensure that individuals earning the IACCP® designation have been trained, tested and certified to meet high industry professional standards.

Lauren lives just over the MD/PA line with her husband, son, and two daughters. She enjoys singing and supporting animal and domestic violence charities and hopes to one day start her own charity to help support skin cancer research and awareness.
